Shopping Spree: Faith 21

When I first heard that Forever 21 was going to carry plus sizes, I was super excited. Skip to a few days later when I heard that 2X was the max size they would carry. Bummer. Well, I guess that had great success and now most items go up to 3X and the cuts are savvy enough that I, a 4X, can wear many different pieces. Here are a few things that I've purchased and <3ed...I can't recommend them enough (I mean, seriously...$12 leopard skirt??)

Winter into Spring Wardrobe

If you are like me, you fall in love with certain pieces of clothing. When the seasons change, you don't want to store those things away...you want to work them in year 'round. If you stick with this core set of basics, you should be able to mix and match through out the year to keep you weather appropriate! With a little help from the fantastic selection at Evans, these fun selections will help visualize the tips!

From left to right, starting at the top:

1 + 2. Fabulously cut, "nice" t-shirts: These are perfect for every day wear and can be paired alone or layered, depending on the weather. Make sure that the cut is most flattering for your shape and extraordinarily comfortable. Boxy t-shirts aren't the only game in town these days. Long line tunics, hanky hems, and ultra deep v's will help keep this typical item exciting.

3. Black Cardigan: To keep this style fresh, opt for super long or cropped. Lightweight is best, as it can easily layer with a coat for winter or be worn for spring nights with a mini skirt or shorts.

4. Killer "Pop" Color Dress: A great dress in a solid, but colorful style can be worn anytime of year. Choose one with no straps or spaghetti straps so that you can remain cool in the spring or layer it with a moto jacket for the colder months. Knee length is best, as it straddles the weather lines nicely.

5. Moto Jacket: Seriously, it goes with everything. Opt for a lightweight leather or canvas and it can be worn in ANY kind of weather! Goes with party dresses, tees, most anything!

6. Sassy Bra: Fun underwear is a great way to life your spirits and your bust line. Why buy nothing but boring old basics? Let these peep over your tees, tanks, or dresses to add flair to your existing pieces. Paired underneath a coat, it can make your jackets sexy too!

7. Knee High Flat Boots: Whether you opt for cowboy, moto, or ninja boots, flat boots are amazing, no matter what the temperature. Pair them with leggings or pants in the winter or with minis/dresses in the spring and still feel seasonably appropriate.

8. "Wet Look" Leggings: This trend seems to have sticking power, so you should have no issue wearing these into the next season! Pair with sandals and a sundress for the spring or layer with boots and a jacket for the winter...and frankly: everything in between!

9. Sequin Tank Dress: Go for the sleeveless version and make your sequin frock last! Goes great with the moto jacket and leggings or with knee high boots for a saucy spring outing.

10. Denim Mini-skirt: This skirt is really great, because it gives a feminine shape to a classic AND adds some super trendy studs. Wear with leggings and boots in the winter or flats/sandals in the spring.

What are your favorite tips for extending the seasonal life of your favorite pieces?

Bubble Pop: Dolly Mix Mama

I've never been one for fall colors. To me, fall is all about hats, adorable coats, and the influx of pumpkin flavored things! This is a great fall outfit, made mostly by layering pieces that you could wear all spring/summer and updating them for cooler weather by adding layers. This would be perfect for going to the movies, dinner, or out to a casual bar.

SIDENOTE: I'm getting married in 3 weeks 3,000 miles from where I live. Needless to say, this blog will probably be ignored a bit in the coming weeks. I apologize in a advance and will do my best to make up for it!

Bubble Pop: Metallic-uh?

I'm so in love with Metallic leggings right now...this set is all based around featuring this gorgeous purple pair from Evans. With a bright Metallic color, keep the top plain, but the accessories are a free for all. I choose to go with more and layered, but you can remove some and keep it very simple. Afraid of your gams bein' all glowy? Try a metallic handbag instead!

Bubble Pop: Too Cool for S-cool

I love this set of basic pieces, thrown with fun pop colors! It's cheapest to add color with leggings, bags and accessories to basics like a denim skirt and a black motorcycle jacket. I love how a GIANT bag looks with an ensemble, so what do I usually do? I "plus size" my bag, I do! I often purchase bags intended as "luggage" or "weekend bags" and use them as purses. Not only can I fit tons of things, but I also get that same "over-sized" look that many girls have with their purses. Betsey Johnson has TONS of great overnight bags that can be used for this purpose. My favorite places to find her luggage on sale? Torrid, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Max, Nordstrom Rack, Off Saks, and Loehmann's.

Bubble Pop: Melrose-y

We are around a week away from the official "first day of fall", but no doubt you are still living in some summer-y gear. There were SO many floral prints this season that were amazing...why leave them behind?? Throw tights under your shorts and a leather moto jacket (can you tell how much I'm loving these??) over your floral tunic and it's ON.

What are your styling tips for transitioning your favorite summer pieces?

Courtney <3

Indulge your inner 90's rock goddess with this fun Courtney inspired ensemble. Swill champagne and throw things...you're allowed! Important outfit points NOT to be ignored: vintage style dolly dress, red lips (smear them! apply kisses to strangers! leave them on glasses!), mary-janes, and a sparkle-y tiara.

All items in this set are plus size or plus size friendly...click the image to get all of the shopping details.

Swoonage

I recently stumbled upon the wonder that is Carmakoma. Usually, when I shop a plus size website, I visually remove the item from their styling or display and mentally place it somewhere COMPLETELY different. Not with Carmakoma: they style it in a way so clean and crisp that I only see what they want me to. And their imagery is most impressive: fashionable, delicate, and utterly chic. These are my favorite pieces and images...surely items to be coveted! Click on the images to go to their website.

Essential Pieces for Fall!

Fall is almost here and that means my FAVORITE fashion time of year! We can add layers, hats, and boots without roasting our hides and without freezing our tushies off! What are the necessary pieces?

1. A great coat - this lil' number is from Dorothy Perkins and comes in Black, Yellow, Purple, and PINK!
2. Vests - these are a warmer, more snazzy alernative to the high belt. They cinch in your body to create a more definitive waist, much like a belt, but add more warmth and a new dimension to dressing. I love this one from Dorothy Perkins because it has sequins and an open style in the belly area.
3. Studs! - I love these puppies on everything...belts, dresses, headbands, gloves, shoes....they really can't go wrong for me.
4. Bangles - I love stacking the bangles and clanging my way through the day. The trick for plus size girls to get the ones from the plus size store that sit properly so that they look effortless and flattering the arm. Torrid, Evans, and Lane Bryant all carry affordable sets.
5. Leather gloves - Yes, I'm a vegetarian. I can't get enough of leather gloves...so shoot me! These great ones are from Intermix, but I've found styles by Patricia Field and Michael Kors that work on many hand sizes. These keep you hands warm and are great for when you go out and don't want to fix your chipped nail polish.
6. Berets with somethin' extra - I love the slouchy tam/snood/beret look, but I been wanting more than the standard knit fair. For fall, dazzle it up with a sequin one or maybe even one with a bow or flower!
7. Huge Pyramid Rings - these are a direct rip off the runway, but you can find some great styles in sizes 8 and up at Evans and Torrid.
8. Single Charm necklaces - these easy and affordable pieces add some pop to any wardrobe with minimal effort. Try Girlprops for TONS of affordable styles.

Bubble Pop

I heart Polyvore so much! Bubble Pop is my feature where I post my favorite outfit combos including ONLY PLUS SIZE and PLUS SIZE FRIENDLY items (that includes shoes, accessories, whatever). I've also noticed that the weather outside often effects what kind of sets I do, so keep in mind: I live in Southern California. My "winter wear" is not quite what others around the world might be wearing.
