Swoonage: Shrinkle

I really loathe summer...well, the heat, more than the actual season. I suppose it's not its fault, exactly. One of the best ways to survive the heat is to don cute, flirty summer dresses so that you can remain absolutely gorgeous while your make up melts and you get oddly shaped sunburns (oh yes, that is a personal reference).

I've been madly in love with the idea of slips/nightgowns as outerwear since I was a youngin' watching Courtney Love, L7, and Babes in Toyland videos on VHS tapes. I began to think that this would be a PERFECT inspiration to start this summer's fashion adventures...but where can you find such fabulous, vintage slip-age for plus size dames?

Cue the queen of adorable vintage nightwear: Shrinkle! Her etsy shop is full of her own handmade collection (which, sadly, seems to be only size Small items) and a cornucopia of adorable vintage pieces! She has many items up that would work for sizes 1X-4X, just look for a free flowin' silhouettes and items marked Bust 44" and up or XL and up. Here are a few of my favorite plus size choice from her shop!

Free Size $42

2X/3X $40

Photobucket
XL $34

2X $20

Mix these with cardigans, pastel fishnets from We Love Colors, combat boots, and hair bows to bring out your inner riot grrl. Shrinkle ALSO has her own eyeshadow line, Sugarpill. I haven't tried it yet, but it's VERY cute, yes??

Do you have a favorite place to buy vintage dress/slips? Leave a comment with info...I'd LOVE to find even more places!

Spank! for the Chubblettes!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Images taken from the Spank! Girls Tumblr

I love love love Japanese Street Fashion. Since a friend first showed me the book FRUiTS 7 years ago, I've had a fascination with their labels and style. I became familiar with Spank!, a small Japanese store, after subscribing to Kera...and fell in love. With a penchant for 80's toys, pastels, and polka dots, Spank! is a love letter to childhood. Considering that Japanese clothing is often one size fits all that doesn't fit all, my only way to get the Spank! look is to re-create my own version of their unique style. Here are some points of style to follow if you want to get Spank!ed up.

- Pastel colors mixed with black and white
- Cropped Moto Jacket
- Printed Tights
- Classic Reeboks, Chucks, or Dr Martens
- 80's characters on tees or purses
- Hoodies
- Polka Dots or Stripes
- Bows and Hearts
- Denim Mini Skirts
- Short Petticoats
...and most importantly LOTS OF LAYERS!

I definitely want to do an OOTD with my own Spank! look...stay tuned!!

Purikura for Valentine's Day

I'm back from Vegas and yesterday Joe and I hung out to celebrate our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. We went to lunch and the japanese photo boots, or Purikura (japanese for "Picture Club"). I was hoping to get better views of my full outfit for an OOTD, but those images ended up being too little (chalk it up to timed image choices and bad Japanese to English translations). Regardless, I'll include the details in case anyone is curious AND has a magnifying glass.

Shopping Spree: Faith 21

When I first heard that Forever 21 was going to carry plus sizes, I was super excited. Skip to a few days later when I heard that 2X was the max size they would carry. Bummer. Well, I guess that had great success and now most items go up to 3X and the cuts are savvy enough that I, a 4X, can wear many different pieces. Here are a few things that I've purchased and <3ed...I can't recommend them enough (I mean, seriously...$12 leopard skirt??)

OOTD: Disneyland

Disneyland (well, theme parks in general) is a tricky place to get dressed for, particularly if you are of the chubble persuasion. You need to be comfortable and weather appropriate (luckily, last night was beautiful) with good shoes. But if you are like me, it's very important to remain true to your own style. Since many of my outfits are not appropriate for hours of walking, you have to get creative. Make sure you have well fitting biker shorts for under skirts to prevent chub rub or opt for leggings/jeans. Monistat (yes, yes I know) makes a fabu anti-chafing cream that you can apply as well to keep your skin happy and rash-free. Sneakers or flip flops are best...and chucks look good with most everything! I <3 the sequin ones that have been out for a few years now and I got a compliments from a few 6 year old princesses...that's when I know I'm on the right path! Backpacks are excellent for toting around goodies, including a cardigan/hoodie for night time, sunscreen, anti-chafing cream, sunglasses, and all your general necessities.

Enough theme park boot camp...here's what I wore!

OOTD: Disneyland!

Top + Studded Skirt + Black Bangles from Torrid
Bra from Lane Bryant
Cardigan from Alloy
Knee Socks from Torrid
Sequin Chucks from Delia*s
Hat from Urban Oufitters
Flower Clip on Hat from Tarina Tarantino
Pink Skull Bracelet from Hot Topic
Heart Ring from Macy's
And my favorite (the inspiration for the whole outfit) the Skull Necklace is from my shop Pink Addict!!

Come to think of it...my outfit matches my current blog layout QUITE nicely! Bonus =)

Swoonage: Alienskin

I love my Alienskin clothing. My favorite dress is from their shop and it was custom made...without a custom made price. They use a heavy weight t-shirt-like knit in a variety of basic colors and add fabulous stitching to create a comfortable and unique look...I LOVE them!
My favorite dress is their Babydoll style (shown with one of their shrugs):

It comes up to a UK 26, in 6 different colors with over 20 colors of stitching...LOVE that customization!!

All of the following pieces have the same options...review and fall in love!

Note: these sleeves are a fabulous cyber accessory for plus sizes, as you can pop them over your favorite sleeves top and show some sexy shoulder. They do come in larger arm sizes so HUGE YAY!

I truly, truly recommend getting these pieces if you are a club-goer who likes to dance. They breathe amazing and look fantastic.

Swoonage: Sick for Cute

Sick for Cute is one of the most adorable sites I've seen in a loooong time! They have a great mix of artists creating t-shirts, bags, accessories and more! Even better, most styles of their adorable t-shirts come up to a ladies 2X. No too bad...we'd love to see up 4X sometime soon, but it's a great start. We've picked out some of our favorite items...check out the swoonage!

Fundies!!

Just because the world can't see 'em, doesn't mean they should be nasty. For real, ladies. I, myself, am such a fan of wearable items, that I squeal when movies have 3D glasses (yay! mas accessories!), so it's no shocker that my unmentionables are worth mentioning.
As per usual in the land of Chubble Bubble, this isn't always the easiest feat. I've got a big ol' cup size and it usually lands me in the boring world of neutral bras. Black is the spiciest that I had for YEARS! Now, places like Torrid and Lane Bryant not only expanded their cup range, but decided that they are ALLOWED to be cute! HURRAY!
I've selected some of my favorite from the current Torrid range that are super playful and comfy. These are sassy everyday pieces, perfect for casual wear but fun enough that you won't be bored to tears getting dressed. I mean....can you REALLY have a terrible day whilst wearing pink godzilla briefs??

Bubble Pop

As an avid fan of goth, industrial, and other somber music, my immediate go-to outfit mostly consists of blacks, silvers, other monochromatic pieces. However, I still have a huge soft spot for Japanese fashion and really cutesy, bright outfits. This would be a fun outfit to go shopping, take in a Japanese art show, or to wear to Disneyland. Just make sure to grab some ears while you're there!
