Anyone who's close to me knows that I have quite a thing (fashionably, emotionally, sexually, etc) for Lisbeth Salander. Particularly Noomi Rapace, but after seeing the American version this weekend it is clear to me that the character holds a lot of the charm. It's no secret that I tend to dress a bit darker and these movies provide endless fashion inspiration for me. It can be quite challenging to be plus size and dress fashionably, but chic, non-costume-y goth clothing seems like the unattainable to most. However, with amazing inspiration and dedicated searching, it's definitely not impossible. Here are some looks I pulled together to help you get Lisbeth's style in plus sizes. Please note: a huge part of her style is her shaved head and piercings. It is challenging to get the full affect without having a head to toe edge-y style, but these outfits should pull you farther and farther into the dark side.

Product Rodeo: Outfit Edition!

While my heart goes pitter-patter for certain very expensive designers, I try to make sure not to focus on completely unattainable (for most of the world, anyways) products. However, I felt extremely inspired by many pieces this week and threw caution to the wind. Here are 3 outfits that I'm feelin' right now, price be damned. While (in my opinion) there's not the "high end" plus size equivalent of McQueen, Westwood, and Betsey Johnson, that doesn't mean you can't pull a high fashion look together.

Alt Girl Week...Round 2!

Just under a year ago, I created style profiles for a week solid calling them my "Alt Girls". I think Chubble Bubble is due for another round of fabulous dames...so everyday this week, a new outfit + girl description will pop up. The world of alternative fashion is desperately in need of more manufacturers, but with a little creative styling, a fabulous and glamorous look can be achieved.

Yesterday evening was akin to Christmas morning for the fatshion community. Evans loaded the Beth Ditto Collection up on their site (along with an accompanying Beth only site)...and of course, we all want to know each others opinions and purchases. Well, here's mine!

Photobucket

I purchased the hanky hem top and the polka dot dress (with the peter pan collar)...SUCH cute pieces and if the fit is rad like the last collection: you're gonna have to pry them off of me after weeks of wearing them over and over again! Also: use the code EVBGBLG10 to save 10%!

What did everybody think? Were you thrilled or underwhelmed? Did you buy anything? Share share share!

Fueled by my recent excitement over seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, I wanted to do a great "how to" on dressing like the oh-so cool Ramona Flowers.

Photobucket

Her look is young, fun, and fairly simple to put together with a little time. Here are some easy steps to follow to get a Ramona inspired look!

1. Layers - From top to bottom, it's important to layer up...which is perfect for fall winter anyways. Her usually formula is top, hoodie, jacket. The top tends to be a more muted shade of her current hair color, ditto for the hoodie, and then either an army jacket or motorcycle jacket over than. For the legs, a skirt or pair of shorts over tights and knee socks complete her clothing look.
2. Accessories - Her most coveted accessories are her goggles, star bag (easy to find reproductions on Etsy), and some fingerless gloves. She usually has a low slung belt over her pants in black with some type of silver hardware.
3. Footwear - Boots are the go to tootsie covers. Something flat and knee high with buckles is best...and comfy!
4. Make Up/Hair - Crazy colored bobs sit on her noggin' and her make up is always minimal with a bold pink or red lip.

The most important thing is to HAVE FUN! This is a casual, effortless style that is all about comfort and wear-ability.

This tunic was love at first sight for me. It's a great cut for my shape and HELLLLLO bow print! Until I can get my hands on it, I created an ensemble using it's pink, lavender, and turquoise bow graphics to pump up the fun. I'm generally bored by denim, but I think the cute cuffed capris add the perfect touch of casual to this outfit. Add some ribbon lace up ballet flats and you'll be as sweet as a snow cone.

I originally set out to pick a pair of shoes from my favorite shoe company, Irregular Choice, for a Covet Thursday post. As you can see: I couldn't choose just one! Thus, here is a hybrid post of my Covet Thursday and Swoonage: Irregular Choice Style! Known for their unusual construction and color combinations, they are an amazing way to add immediate interest to a dull outfit. I'm very excited about the 2nd Sex and the City Movie that comes out today, so I felt inspired to create some great outfits to bring out your inner Carrie! Some points of style to focus on would be colorful heels, unique jewelry, and bright dresses. Those Ruby Belle dresses from Evans are great for lookin' like the 5th member of everyone's favorite fashion girl-gang.

A few of my favorite fashion elements from the years of Sex and the City have been:
- Half gloves
- Scarves tied to the arm
- Visible bras (who cares if your straps show??)
- Poofs and bubbles of Tulle

What are your favorite SATC fashion moments?

*edit* Musings of a Fatshionista did a post of favorites!
