OOTD: Bright Lights Movie Night

So, somehow this outfit seems inappropriate for seeing the movie Black Swan, but the tights are new and I couldn't wait any longer. This outfit may also seem out of sorts for my usual OOTDs, and that may be true. But, as you know, I'm a a HUGE fan of Betsey Johnson. So while 95% of my closet is black and moody, I have some pieces that reminiscent (if not straight up hers themselves) of her iconic collections. So, with that in mind, I hope you enjoy my brightly-toned departure from all black.

Also, I'd like to say that I have no foundation on in these pics...mostly thanks to my new (mostly) Lush-based skincare routine. These are the products I've been using and am totally in love with. Throw in this moisturizer from Trader Joe's and the Oatfix fresh face mask (also by Lush, but only available in the store) and my skin is suppppppppper happy right now. Full disclosure: there's a SLIGHT filter on the pics, but it honestly doesn't change the skin texture at all.

New Years Eve

New Years Eve was spent with a small, quiet evening with good friends, champy, and those lil' poppers that shoot streamers. The guest list? Really just us and Frankie and her husband. Nothing crazy to report, but let's first start with my OOTD from that evening.

I would apologize for the slippers vs real shoes, but really: they are fabulous. Anyways, I have been know to center Halloween costumes around the idea of wearing slippers out in public, so it's really not that different to don them at home.

It was really a nice way to close out the year. No drama and safely tucked in our home, with good people. Hope you all had just as good of a time and to end: here are some more shots of the evening.

Quick Snaps!

Last week I spent 75% of my time with unbearable coughing fits, so my OOTDs consisted of PJs. However, as to not disappoint and bore the chubblettes, here are 2 quick snaps I took last weekend, complete with details. I'm starting to feel better, so hopefully I will get back into the full swing of blogging PRONTO.

This adorable Cameo top was just released on Evans and I LOVE that it is a gothic lolita version of a comfy summer top. Pair it with a flippy skirt, flat maryjanes, and lots of girly black jewelry for a dressed up look without the stuffy sweaty icky!

How do you put an outfit together? I find one piece and build around it with things I think work. It could be as simple as a nail polish color or a full dress. How do you tackle coming up with the perfect outfit?

Bridesmaid

I'm so excited about my buddy Frankie's upcoming nupituals! She's having a crazy carnival themed wedding, outdoor, in the summer. As a bride-y lady (that's what she calls me), she wants me to pick my own dress, but with her color scheme and flexible-ness, I'm having a hard time picking!! The color choices are yellow, turquoise, red, or pink. I have yellow hair, so at the risk of looking like a Rainbow bright character, the yellow dresses are probably out. Red is also not my color, so that's skipped too. So, it boils down to Turquoise or Pink. I'm totally fine with mixing colors (and so is she), so I'm going to include the jewelry options and shoe options...then I'd love some opinions!

I think my ideal outfit would be the blue Evans dress (third from the right) or the magenta eShakti dress (farthest right) with either the magenta/red heart pump or platform wing sandals. What would you choose?

This tunic was love at first sight for me. It's a great cut for my shape and HELLLLLO bow print! Until I can get my hands on it, I created an ensemble using it's pink, lavender, and turquoise bow graphics to pump up the fun. I'm generally bored by denim, but I think the cute cuffed capris add the perfect touch of casual to this outfit. Add some ribbon lace up ballet flats and you'll be as sweet as a snow cone.

This Covet Thursday piece is really part of an entire covet-able collection. Tarina Tarantino's new Tuxedo Lingerie collection is like a black tie ball mixed with the whimsy she's know for...it makes for a really delicious combo. OOTD: Glamour Island

Got all gussied up, and probably inappropriately absurd, to go see Shutter Island. Reminded me why we always go to the 21+ theaters to avoid teenagers. However, the movie was excellent and our impromptu photo shoot led to some decent shots.

Purikura for Valentine's Day

I'm back from Vegas and yesterday Joe and I hung out to celebrate our first Valentine's Day as a married couple. We went to lunch and the japanese photo boots, or Purikura (japanese for "Picture Club"). I was hoping to get better views of my full outfit for an OOTD, but those images ended up being too little (chalk it up to timed image choices and bad Japanese to English translations).
