I got this fun and quirky Betsey Johnson sweater at her outlet in Ontario and I just LOVE it! It's a ruler print that says "Teach Me a Lesson". Cheeky! It's a bit short for my 5'9" and 44DDD frame, but that just makes it even naughtier. I paired this outfit for a friend's birthday celebration at a midnight Rocky Horror showing. Here are the pics + details!
Outfit Details: Sweater - Betsey Johnson Skirt - Domino Dollhouse (dominodollhouse.com) Shoes - Sam Edelman Ring - Downtown LA Skull Scarf - eBay Bra - Re/Dress NYC
Sorry again for the MIA lately...the Rebel Rebel Collection at Domino Dollhouse is doing AMAZING which is so fabulous, but it means I'm in PJ wear 24-7. Hopefully I'll get out some day soon!
So, as posted in a previous entry, last night I attended an art opening at Studio Servitu for Carlos Batts and April Flores (those links are NOT safe for work, but ARE wonderful). In honor of such sexy beasts, I showed some arms, boobs, and legs. My only regret: not bringing the nice camera! Oh well...here are some snap shots from the studio of my ensemble.
Outfit Details: Skirt - Domino Dollhouse's Bow Out Skirt Under Skirt - Macy's Sheer Top - Spunk (now out of business) Vest + Fishnets - Torrid Suspenders - Hot Topic (DIY studded by Me) Hat - Asos Gloves - Ebay Purse - Betsey Johnson Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Our friends worked really hard to help open Studio Servitu, an upscale studio for some of your, um, naughtier events. The set up was very sleek, featuring a favorite of mine: striped walls! While the event room featured black and white walls, these gorgeous mint and black stripes are in the bathroom...I could not resist a photo shoot!
Outfit Details: Jacket: Torrid Bra + Slip: Lane Bryant Sheer Dress: Cheap Monday Gloves: Michael Kors Necklace + Clutch: Betsey Johnson Boots: Dr Martens
This week's product rodeo seems to have a lot of leopard print...but that's because it's faaaaaabulous. Here are the newest and cutest items from this week's offerings around the web.
Lace Hoodie $21.80
Leopard Leggings $25
Juicy Couture Eyelash Bag $89
Sienna Couture Wrap Cardigan 32GBP (reminds me of Black Peace Now...SO GOOD!)
Time for a fresh, new segment on Chubble Bubble: LINKLETTES! Okay, it's not an idea that reinvents the wheel. But, I've been trying to tap into more creative energies now that I am solely responsible for designing pieces for Domino Dollhouse. After an invigorating chat with my gal Frankie, I definitely wanted to follow suite with her blog and create weekly posts cultivating things that week that have tickled my fancy. I'm hoping that this will serve as a spark to my creative juices whenever I'm feeling stumped...and I sincerely hope that it entertains my chubblettes in the process!
- Betsey Johnson's Fall 2011Runway show (click that link to watch the show). My favorite elements were the lace print wigs, mesh print fabrics, the 2nd half's employee model explosion (chubby girls and gay boys make everything better), the floral printed combat boots (particularly the turquoise pair), and the Betsey/Patricia Field dance party explosion at the end. Blogger Gala Darling had the pleasure of hanging out and walking in the show...click that link so see her delicious, picture-filled post.
- The event Plus London's Tumblr. Lauren of Pocket Rocket organized this amazing fatshion blogger meet up. Their Tumblr is full of fun images and links about the events and the bloggers included.
- Lady Gaga's Grammy performance. I was crazy about her pony tail and her absurd egg. I'm a huge fan of Mugler, Sci-Fi, and latex so I was in heaven. Many will shit-talk her over the top performances and "stunts", but the theatrics and artistic ridiculousness are frankly the ONLY reason I watched the Grammys at all. If the mainstream is over it, the freaks will take her with open arms. Also: see her stylist's blog for more in-depth outfit pictures and details.
- Sopes and Potato Tacos from El Camino Real. So, growing up in white-ass Cincinnati, Ohio, I know VERY little about Mexican Food. Actually, up until recently, I knew very little about food that didn't involve pizza or pasta. My switch to Vegetarian life required me to expand my palate, so now I have Indian food, Ramen, and Mexican food under my belt. Long story short: Frankie took me here and now I dream of eating these.
- Jeremy Scott Fall 2011. Favorite elements: Super hero sequin dresses (complete with capes), furry mary janes, candy colored leather minis, skull sweaters, neon faux fur stoles, and the see-thru moto jackets. If you want to see some great behind the scenes shots, check here.
- Teer Wayde blogsabout her gorgeous Dita Cardigan from Wheels and Dollbaby complete with pics of her insanely hot self.
- Lush's Trichomania Solid Shampoo. Dubious about solid shampoos, I only tried this gem because I received a sample in my last lush order. It was conditioning and HIGHLY thorough at cleaning, but my hair felt sensational.
- This picture from the Glamourai. The jacket, glasses and ring...SWOOOOON.
And the best for last: Beth Ditto's brand new video I Wrote the Book from her solo EP
My mom and sister visited us in our new home and much shopping + eating ensued. Here are some highlights from last Friday - Tuesday.
- The theme of the trip was I Love You, Man. This is my sister and I re-creating the moment when Paul Rudd asks Jason Segel to be his best man. Latres on the Menjay. - FINALLY got our wedding photo album (yes, we got married on Halloween '09)
- Played a Nautical-themed round of Mini Golf
- Did an immense amount of shopping. $15 Betsey table at her outlet, 25% clearance at Converse, and some additional Betsey/Harajuku Lovers jewelry. Also: got some more Xmas gifts from my Mom, in the form of some Evans goodies. There are more things, but the list makes me dizzy...happily dizzy
- Ate a mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich...where the "cookies" were mint macaroons at Milk. BOOM. (this was my sister's treat).
- Exchanged Hellos with Mario Lopez. He proceeded to talk to his handler about the "girl in the polka dot dress" aka me...the rest of the story we will never know.
- Spent a lovely lunch celebrating MLK Day at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles - Saw Tron and <3ed it - Ate many veggie dogs
- Drank a Thai Coconut...it tasted...odd. And the man said "edible flesh" to me, so perhaps that changed my opinion
- Mom bought Marc Jacobs sunglasses and is modeling them in front of the Rose Bowl
We had tons of fun and I'm super grateful to my sister Robin for taking so many good photos =)
So, somehow this outfit seems inappropriate for seeing the movie Black Swan, but the tights are new and I couldn't wait any longer. This outfit may also seem out of sorts for my usual OOTDs, and that may be true. But, as you know, I'm a a HUGE fan of Betsey Johnson. So while 95% of my closet is black and moody, I have some pieces that reminiscent (if not straight up hers themselves) of her iconic collections. So, with that in mind, I hope you enjoy my brightly-toned departure from all black.
Outfit Details: Top: Evans Skirt: Macy's Cardigan: Nordstrom Stockings + Hat: Torrid Shoes: Hot Topic Cameo Ring + Heart Bracelet: Tarina Tarantino Necklace: Harajuku Lovers
Also, I'd like to say that I have no foundation on in these pics...mostly thanks to my new (mostly) Lush-based skincare routine. These are the products I've been using and am totally in love with. Throw in this moisturizer from Trader Joe's and the Oatfix fresh face mask (also by Lush, but only available in the store) and my skin is suppppppppper happy right now. Full disclosure: there's a SLIGHT filter on the pics, but it honestly doesn't change the skin texture at all.
New Years Eve was spent with a small, quiet evening with good friends, champy, and those lil' poppers that shoot streamers. The guest list? Really just us and Frankie and her husband. Nothing crazy to report, but let's first start with my OOTD from that evening.
Details: Nightie: Betsey Johnson Bra: Evans Skirt + Leggings: Macy's Cardigan: Mode Plus Necklaces: Tarina Tarantino Head Scarf: Domino Dollhouse Slippers: Steve Madden
I would apologize for the slippers vs real shoes, but really: they are fabulous. Anyways, I have been know to center Halloween costumes around the idea of wearing slippers out in public, so it's really not that different to don them at home.
It was really a nice way to close out the year. No drama and safely tucked in our home, with good people. Hope you all had just as good of a time and to end: here are some more shots of the evening.
And don't forget to check out Frankie's new blog with all of her outfit deets and some more photos of the evening.
I've mentioned my insane October schedule in some previous posts, but I did manage to snap some photos before attending my girl Eva's rehearsal dinner. We had a gorgeous meal/winefest at the San Antonio Winery and then followed with a gorgeous wedding the day after. Here are the details of my ensemble.
Dress: Torrid Jacket and Tights: Evans Shoes: Dr Martens Purse: Betsey Johnson Necklace: Harajuku Lovers Sunglasses: Dior Ring: Forever 21
We've been having major issues with our house (aka we were supposed to move in a week ago), but hopefully that will be taken care of and we can get back to our life...and blogging!
