Linklettes

This week has been challenging over here at casa de Bubble. Little sleep due to 2 teeth desperately in need of root canals hasn't lead to the most creative thoughts, but hopefully this week's linklettes do not disappoint!

- PS. I Made This Spikes a Trench
Those spikes are made with spray painted CHOPSTICKS. This money saving spike adornment has got my mind on over drive.

- Big Girl Barbie Tumblr
I run a tumblr that features the creme de la creme of big girl fashionistas (in my opinion) and I just figured how to accept submissions/questions. My chubblettes are some of the fiercest and I'd love to get some gorgeous pictures to include!

DETAILS:
Top: Target hand shredded by me
Jacket + Leggings + Bra: Evans
Grey Under Skirt: American Apparel
Holster: Skingraft
Earrings: Walmart
Necklace: Metropark
Gloves: eBay
Boots: Dr Martens

I read about the shredding technique on Musings of a Fatshionista and thought I'd give it a try. I have plenty of plain black tanks, so I opted for this trapeze style number and shredded the front. I love how it came out so long and asymmetrical (I think because of the trapeze cut, mostly). Thanks for the share, girl! I wore this out to Das Bunker for the Nacthmahr/Uberbyte show (which, BTW, featured Uberbyte's chubby female singer...SO ADORABLE!!!).

And for the make-up, the inspiration stems completely from my obsession with Lady Gaga's Alejandro video. After consulting with make up artist extraordinaire Natasha, she told me to snatch up the mac white eye liner pencil (in "Fascinating"), as it was the smoothest option for bleached out alien eyes. I do wish I'd had time to bleach out my eyebrows, but I opted for au naturale look this time. It's weird to not have so much dark eye make up on, but I think it's a nice change of pace.

I also love her goggle-headpiece so much that I've been buying up craft supplies to create something crazy...and when I do: you can check it out here!

OOTD: Bananas

Last night we poppped over to Reseda to dance the night away at Bananas. Surprisingly, we arrived first and had time to have a photo shoot in the alley before meeting up with our crew. Thus, here is my OOTD from 2/13/10!

Swoonage: Headgear

Hats are an amazing way to not only cover up your less than stellar hair days, but they are also an amazing opportunity to make an ensemble pop. Most of us are fairly comfortable with casual berets, newsboy caps, and headbands, but what about taking it a step farther and wearing them out to a fancy ocassion? With the return of the cocktail hat, more girls are becoming comfortable with the idea of a fancy hat to top their look.
Why just be comfortable...when you can be FAAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS? I've selected a few oustanding options from my favorite place to buy accessories, Patricia Field. I love her stuff because she ranges from a $5 piece to an out-of-this-world $2,000 piece all in 1 shop with 1 unique point of view. She's quite the genius. Here are some fun and exciting options from her store!

Snood $8 - tons of colors!

Your Future Funeral Hat $400

Fantastic Planet Headpiece $600

Don't have big cash? Get CREATIVE! There are tons of things you can use for headpieces that are available for cheap. Add a lil' elbow grease and you can have something fantastic. Try butterflies, pool floating noodles, crystals, hand made bows, tulle, doll heads, googley eyes...anything you can get your hands on! Not only will you exude confidence, but HELLO!?: conversation piece.
