Witches

I'm still lamenting that Halloween is over.  I wanted to share these photos last week, but unfortunately Remy took a bad tumble and we ended up in the emergency room receiving 7 stitches. She is doing so much better now, thank god!  To ease the pain of Halloween withdrawal, here are some pumpkin patch photos from the 30th.

Halloweek: Stranger Things

So, you may or may not know, but for the last 2 years on my daughters' Instagram (Remy and Zara) I have posted Halloween looks everyday in October.  This year, having double the daughters, I decided to take a new approach.  Halloweek will be launched every Monday in October on my new baby fashion blog, The Witching Hour, and will feature my girls in fabulous, if not absurd, costumes.  This week's look launches today and features the girls as characters from the Netflix show, Stranger Things.  Here are some sneak peeks, but make sure to visit The Witching Hour for the full scoop and more pictures!

Black Cat

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. A lot of wonderful things in my life have happened around this holiday.  For instance, I met and then married my husband (a total of 14 years together).  The year following our wedding, we purchased our home.  So it goes beyond the obvious love of dressing up.  This year, at 7 months pregnant, I needed a costume that was both gorgeous and comfortable.  I've been gathering some AMAZING pieces over the last few months, so I was very excited to put this combo together.  This Zelie for She dress (which I also purchased in gray) is so incredible…sexy, comfortable, and with POCKETS!

Outfit Details:
Dress - Zelie for She (worn without the belt)
Harness - Cirque Apparel (custom sizing, great service!!)
Fringe Duster - UNIF
Mask - H&M (last year)
Shoes - Gentle Soles

My daughter's costume was a dramatic roller coaster (it arrived the DAY OF instead of weeks before like it was supposed to), but she was too adorable not to share.  A League of Their Own was one of my favorite movies growing up and this costume was just perfect.

What were you for Halloween this year? Share pics in the comments section!

+ Size Models at NYFW

Two of my favorite designers, Zana Bayne and Chromat, featured plus size models at this past week's New York Fashion Week.  I wore a Chromat mask for Halloween '13 and am SO EXCITED about the possibility of wearing some of their structural pieces on my body (you can currently buy custom up to a size 20).  No word yet if they are expanding their sizes further than that, but Zana Bayne, on the other hand, has always welcomed bodies of all sizes.  Her expansive collection of leather harnesses and gear have been available in custom sizing since she created her line years ago. Let's hope that other designers follow suit.  As always, I encourage us to put our money where our mouth is and show these two designers our support by opening our wallets.

Halloween Costumes: Backwards!

So, this year for Halloween my husband and I are celebrating 2 years married and 10 years together by taking a trip down the west coast. We'll be in Portland for Halloween and I don't mind shelling out some dough for a fabulous costume! However, I'd still like to get my moneys worth...so I propose a plan! I'm going to pick out a few fabulous dresses and go backwards. I'm going to post the front runners and maybe my Chubblettes can help me out with figuring out which one can be transformed (with accessories) to the most fabulous Halloween costume!!

A few quick restrictions:
1. I cannot wear heels for long periods of time and be happy about it. Must go with wedges, flats, or boots!
2. It's gonna be chilly...some kinda jacket might have to be worn with it for periods of time.
3. I'm just never EVER gonna dress as anything that lives in the ocean. I leave that to my ONLY sea friend, Jessica.

Here are the dresses in question...

Black/White Stripe Tulle Dress (with Black Tulle)

The latex dress is my favorite, but I'm unsure about what I'd put on my arms to keep from freezing AND, of course, it's the most expensive and tricky to fit. Help, my chubblettes!

OOTD: Halloween

Somewhere between moving and our 1 year anniversary, my husband and I managed to pull together a joint Halloween Costume. Oh yes...hello 90's nostalgia! We were the kings of partying: Wayne and Garth. All night, people screamed "Party on!" at us...it was very encouraging. Thanks to Frankie, or my wife as I like to call her, we have picture proof. Here are some snaps from the evening!

Be the king of pop for Halloween and get some super fashionable pieces for your wardrobe! A sequin legging, military jacket, and basic white shirt are all great things for fall that you can re-use once the big day is over. Throw on a sparkly glove and a fedora and you'll be moonwalking all night!

Big Girl Barbie Costume

I've always loved Barbie...her glamourous life, clothing, and her array of jobs she can get with no schooling! I would love a big girl barbie...but until then, why not be her for Halloween!? Grab an old Prom Dress, check the thrift store, or splurge and get a gorgeous new one, like this one below from Unique Vintage. Throw on a long blond wig, some satin gloves, pumps, and a glamorous necklace to complete the look.

Making Halloween Count

So, I love Halloween, but then again: I really don't need an excuse to dress up! Why not use Halloween as a means to add some great pieces to your wardrobe that can be worn year round? Check out the 2 costumes that you can create with some of this seasons hottest pieces and a few simple accessories. Take a sequin boyfriend blazer and a matching shiny skirt + a great black bustier. Those 3 pieces can be used separately with ENDLESS outfits through fall/winter, but come together to create a show stopping Halloween costume. Add simple accessories like hats, whips, or ears to create an adorable and multi-functioning costume!!

on the right: Lion Tamer/Circus Ring Leader

I'd love to do more of these...what costumes would you like to see created??
